Care & FAQ

Everything you need to know about caring for your CTR furniture, ordering, and our policies.

Timber Types

Mindi Wood

+

Mindi is a lightweight yet durable hardwood with a warm, even grain similar in appearance to mahogany. It takes stains and finishes beautifully, making it a versatile choice across our collections.

Mindi is plantation grown making and sustainably sourced from government approved suppliers.

Mahogany Wood

+

Mahogany is a hardwood with a reddish-brown with a smooth grain in its natural state offering durability and refined craftsmanship for premium furniture pieces.

All mahogany is responsibly sourced from ethically managed and registered government suppliers.

Acacia Wood

+

Acacia is a dense, durable hardwood with a rich, flowing grain and warm golden-brown tones that vary from piece to piece. Its natural oils make it well suited to everyday use.

Our acacia is FSC-certified and sustainably sourced, supporting responsible forestry and coated for long-lasting performance in our outdoor furniture collections.

Mango Wood

+

Mango wood is harvested from retired fruit trees after they stop bearing fruit making it an eco-conscious source. The appearance can change from a light brown colour through to a deeper brown. Some varieties will feature a mix of both shades.

Sourced from government approved suppliers, mango wood is not subject to the same strict regulations as other rainforest timbers. There is no FSC certification available.

Rattan & Raffia

+

Rattan is a fast-growing climbing palm, hand-woven to form the frames and detailing of our alfresco and occasional pieces. Raffia, woven from palm-leaf fibre, adds soft texture and a relaxed, coastal feel.

Both are renewable, sustainably sourced natural fibres and suit indoor and undercover outdoor spaces. Slight variation in colour and weave is part of their handcrafted character, not a defect.

Teak Wood

+

Teak wood is a durable hardwood with a warm golden-brown colour, natural oils, and strong weather resistance. It will naturally age to a silver-grey colour over time — this is a desirable characteristic, not a defect.

The teak we use is harvested from registered government plantations, ensuring responsible and sustainable sourcing.

Care Instructions

General Timber Care

+

Timber is a natural material — it may expand and contract due to varying temperature conditions. Small cracks may appear where the timber joins. This is normal.

  • To minimise movement, do not place timber furniture outdoors unless it is specifically designed for outdoor use.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and heavily air-conditioned areas.
  • Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately with a soft clean cloth.
  • If you choose to polish, use an appropriate product for the type of timber and test in an inconspicuous area first.
  • When placing hot items on your furniture, use coasters and protective mats if the item is hotter than you can hold in your hand.

Rattan & Raffia Care

+

Rattan and raffia furniture can be wiped with a lightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking or prolonged exposure to water.

Keep rattan furniture away from direct sunlight for extended periods, as this can cause fading or drying. Occasional light dusting helps maintain the finish.

Upholstered Pieces

+

For fabric upholstery, spot clean with a mild fabric cleaner. Always test in an inconspicuous area first.

Avoid harsh chemicals or bleach-based products. For persistent stains, consult a professional fabric cleaner.

Quality & Natural Variations

Our Quality Promise

+

At CTR, quality is at the core of every collection we design and source. We work closely with our trusted factories and suppliers, regularly visiting our partners to develop new products, maintain manufacturing standards, and ensure consistency across every range.

Throughout production, dedicated quality assurance teams inspect goods at multiple stages of the manufacturing process to uphold the standards our customers expect.

Many of our furniture pieces are handcrafted using natural materials and artisanal finishes. Variations in timber grain, texture, paint, and finish are considered part of the product's unique character and are not regarded as faults under warranty.

Natural Variations

+

Many of our furniture pieces are handcrafted using natural materials. As a result, variations in colour, texture, grain and finish may occur between products and batches. These natural differences are expected and form part of each piece's individual character.
